Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is an exfoliation procedure that uses a diamond tipped applicator and gentle suction to sand away the thicker outer layer of the skin.

Your esthetician will trace the tip of the device along the surface of your skin as suction is applied, which creates a uniform pressure as diamond-encrusted removes the topmost layer of skin cells. The dead skin cells get vacuumed up into the filter of the microdermabrasion device. In a sense, microdermabrasion could be considered to be similar to a very sophisticated, very controlled, sandpapering of the skin.

This process gently exfoliates the skin, removing dead skin cells to improve the health and appearance of the skin. Clients can expect their skin to feel refreshed, soft and smooth after this treatment.

Benefits of Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion exfoliates by physically sanding away the uppermost layer of dead skin. This can improve the look and feel of the skin, revealing smoother, more youthful-looking skin.

Microdermabrasion can make the following skin conditions less noticeable:

Pre and Post Care

Before your microdermabrasion appointment, remember:

Do:

Stop using retinoids and other actives such as AHAs and BHAs 5 days before your appointment
Wait 5 to 7 days after your treatment to start using retinoids, AHAs, or BHAs again
Keep your skin well hydrated with a protective moisturizer
Avoid direct sun exposure for the 14 days following your appointment, and be extra diligent about daily use of sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) during this time

Don't:

Scrub or manually exfoliate skin with wash cloths, scrubs, or exfoliating sponges in the week after your treatment
Wear makeup for 24-48 hours after your appointment, if possible
Touch, scratch, or pick at your face after your treatment (your pores are very open and you don't want to introduce bacteria)
Exercise or engage in other rigorous activity in the 24 hours following your treatment (This is to minimize sensitivity, redness, and the potential for outbreaks)

Cancellation Policy

Please call to cancel or reschedule your appointments at least 12 hours before your scheduled date and time to avoid a 50% charge for canceled service. You may also use the Vagaro App to reschedule or cancel an appointment at least 12 hours before your scheduled time.

Client accounts with "no-shows" and reschedules requested less than 12 hours before scheduled service time will be charged a fee equivalent to 50% of the service cost.

In case of emergency, please send documentation of the emergency that interferes with your ability to arrive for a scheduled appointment to be considered for a refund regarding this policy.
